He had been watching with no amount of disinterest as the security guard - as he had come to classify the man - picked up the small metal boxlike object and pressed a series of numbers and then began talking into it. It was a curious thing to do, but then - everything was curious. He could faintly hear higher pitched sounds that could almost resemble words that seemed to be coming from the box itself, and wondered if the man was having a conversation with it. Or if there was a smaller someone residing in the box that the man was conversing with. He thought that he might like the opportunity to examine the small box.
And then, very suddenly, the man and the box and the room that he had been sitting in were no longer there. He was outdoors again, but the sights and smells and placement of the sun and clouds in the sky indicated to him that it was a very different outside than he had been in before. It was confusing to him - before, to travel to different locations, he had to move or be escorted there. This time, it had just happened. It didn't fit the pattern.
He looked around him, and spotted a girl sitting nearby. He wondered if she had escorted him here. It seemed the most logical explanation, given the limited data he had to pool from. Not that he was concerned, exactly, he was just curious. He wasn't certain exactly how he was going to ask her if she'd summoned him here, though. He hadn't quite figured out exactly what sounds to use if he wanted to do that. Though he supposed he could extrapolate, given the sounds he had heard earlier, and he set to work trying to sort them out into more of a language in his mind so that he could get the girl's attention and have his curiosity answered.
