So, his attempts to remain incognito had completely fallen apart.
Keeping Toothless in line was a next to impossible task. He'd known that when they'd first arrived, really, and Toothless had not disappointed. He was all about making friends around here. All Hiccup wanted was to slip away, hide up in his room and read. There was a whole wealth of information here that he'd never have gotten his hands on back at Berk. But noooooo. He had to keep racing outside to make sure that Toothless wasn't starting fights, or drawing unnecessary attention to himself.
They'd found a place for him nearby the dorms, a nook nestled away out of sight in a couple of bushes, but Toothless was hardly content with that. Hiccup could barely convince him to stay within the grounds, let alone control him within them. But the people around here seemed... used to dealing with these sorts of situations. At the very least, Toothless seemed to know to respect their authority and... well, frankly, Hiccup thought some of the people around here were better at keeping his dragon in line than he was.
He hadn't really meant to, but after discovering the library, he'd kind of holed himself away in books. Toothless care aside, he hadn't really bothered to eat, or sleep, or really get to know anyone around. It occurred to him very suddenly that weeks were going by and he was sitting around being a nerd, and it was with that in mind that he thought he should at least make an effort to get to know his neighbours, so he'd put his stuff away and headed over to the cafeteria to get something to eat. Maybe find someone to chat with.
