He sighed, feeling a bit deflated, and didn't make the connection in the telling snark. He ran his hands through his hair, shrugged his shoulders, and wondered why he was bothering, really. She obviously had no interest in spending any more time with him than was absolutely necessary. He needed to go out and find himself some new friends.
"Righ'," he said with another shrug. "Just thought if it came up over lunch is all, y'd keep a lip on it is all. Tho' really, was just tryin' t'make small talk." He rolled his eyes. "You clearly ain' intr'ested. I'll head out, get out of y'hair. Was nice talkin' t'you again."
He turned to walk away, before adding, "I'll do my best t'keep River from buggin' ya. And I wouldn' wanna impose m'self on y'for lunch. Don' worry. I'll find someone else t'go with."
He really wasn't sure why he was being so bitter about it, and taking it so personally, but all the same he turned to head out. Maybe he'd spend some time in the training area, see what folks there were up to.
