It was a decent day. The weather was kind enough not to rain at the moment, the temperature was pretty nice, and the sun was shining, so Barret felt that the day had good prospects.
Barret was beginning to feel a bit more comfortable with himself since his meetings with Astrid and, more recently, Felicity, so he actually chose, for the first time, to walk out the front door of his room. He still tried not to bring attention to himself as he crossed to the dormitory door to leave, but at least it was a step in the right direction.
When he walked outside, he sniffed the air as an attempt to locate Felicity. He had done this to find people on a few other occasions, but was still new to the idea of everyone having their own scent. When he picked up on a smell that could be her, he began walking in that direction, leading him to the cafeteria.
It made sense. She did say after lunch, but it was just such a public place. It was lunch time, so everyone on campus was probably inside that building.
Mustering all the courage he could, he took a step forward and entered the building. The lunch staff looked at him shocked-like, then smiled, for this was their first time seeing him inside the cafeteria. Usually he went around back and they fixed him something.
He looked around for Felicity, trying desperately to control his nerves, and hoping that he didn't scare anyone.
