Lily followed along with him, studying her surroundings as well as she could while they walked. The cars, while more modern-looking, were not unusual to her. The snatches of music she heard were ... well, not the sort of music she listened to. She paused when they passed by a few metal newspaper dispensers and she crouched down to check the date. She did a bit of mental math and swallowed hard.
This ... was ... beyond words.
She kept hoping it was a dream. That she'd wake up. That it all proved to be some cosmic joke, or ... or she'd eaten some bad chocolate or something.
But she knew better. "Two thousand and ten," she said in a dull, flat voice. "And we're in ... West Virginia somewhere," she continued before she pushed up to her feet. She hadn't bothered with the headlines of the paper; they wouldn't mean anything to her anyway.
Standing beside and slightly behind him once they reached the building, Lily regarded the writing as well. Well ... that sounded promising, though she wondered what they researched. "Should we ... go inside?"
