This was not good.
The timing was off. The place was wrong. His inner clock was completely useless. The date he remembered before appearing here had been early November, and he'd still had some time left. But the unmoving newspapers told him otherwise, and apparently his body had decided to agree with the new world. Instead of the few weeks he'd hoped for, he had less than a day. The full moon was approaching, and Remus was alone in a world surrounded by Muggles he knew nothing about.
They were in danger of getting hurt. He was in danger of getting discovered, possibly executed, who knew? All he wanted was to get out; he needed to find a place large enough to get lost in. He was not worried about himself. He survived quite well in the Forbidden Forest back at Hogwarts with his friends, and there was little that scared him about being alone in the woods. He was more concerned that Wheeling, West Virginia would not have an extensive enough area for him. He was concerned that he was going to hurt everybody within a few kilometer's distance.
Concerned. That was an almost laughable understatement. He was terrified. This would be his first transformation spent without at least one of his friends nearby. Since graduating it had been Sirius, usually. But of course, even if he was back home he'd have been alone. James was dead, Peter was dead, and Sirius was a traitor. He had to remember that.
So, with no clear idea of where to go, he'd left the flat given to him, dressed casually in dark trousers and a 't-shirt,' hoping to return once the whole ordeal was done. He could be pleased with the idea of being somewhere other than England, other than home, if it were not for this inconvenient detail of his life. He was irritated with it, and he was rather on edge in general, and annoyed with himself for giving in to the aggression. It was really just a self-sustaining cycle of shite.
Where the hell am I going? He stopped himself mid-stride, looking around. Night had fallen, and he was still unfamiliar with the area. He appeared to be near a court of some sort, though he could see a road leading away from the campus just across from it. He would head that way, then, and 'disappear' for a couple of days. Luckily, he wasn't likely to be missed. It was just too bad he'd left as soon as he'd recognized his own symptoms; it probably would have been beneficial to take the time to figure out how the internet worked and to see if there was a way to obtain information about any possible woods nearby. He sighed and started off again, resigned to finding someplace on his own. If he did not by tomorrow morning, he would turn himself in to the local authorities, or perhaps ask that Dr. Guider for assistance. He'd decide which when the time came.
