He glanced over to where the shallow end was, calculating it's depth based on what he could see of it and determined that his head would be above water with no effort on his part, and agreed with her statement that that would be the best place to begin practicing and would result in the least amount of danger or harm.
"Is it difficult to learn?" he asked, cocking his head to the side as he tried to decide if it was something he wished to do. He was wearing swimming trunks, and logically it was good to have all kinds of information and skills - perhaps swimming would prove useful at some point.
There was something about her tone that made him pause, though.
"You do not have to teach me if you would rather swim yourself," he assured her. "I am certain I would be fine on my own. I have studied swimming, I just have not attempted it." He hoped it would not be too difficult to put what he had learned into practice.
