Yeah, I went reading and OMG talk about horrible. Even the author bios are bad--and what's worse, some of the ones that claimed to have been published (and one, an "award-winning author") can't seem the grasp the concept of grammar and punctuation. I mean, WTF dude? *slaps them*
I'm hoping that this is where the comparison to FFN ends. FFN seems to cherish bad ficcage, and the more popular writers are usually the ones riddled with Mary Sues, Sailor Moon crossovers & cutter fics. Waaaaaaaaaaah!
Then again, if the stories really *are* that bad, maybe being good will mean we'll be great! Maybe we'll stand out! Hee! Harper Collins does seem to check the site, because I noticed they reviewed stories and admittedly, the stories they review are *almost* better than the ones they haven't. And getting a review by Harper Collins must mean something... hee!
I'm thinking that in spite of dumbness like Twilight, good books are still capable of selling. I mean, sometimes it takes a while, and sometimes it's hard, but it's possible. Somewhere along the line, people will tell the difference between a good book and a bad one. It just takes a lot of willpower.
We're going out today, so while I'm stuck in the car for two hours I'm going to try to come up with a professional sounding summary. *makes you do that too*
Yesh! Though I'm going to work on my bio first--I want to sound shmaht without being sanctimonious. It's surprisingly hard. LOL
While doing that, though, I'll be thinking of a novel summary (and a novel). Still considering the vamp one, but to be honest, not really feeling it. Maybe a short story compilation thing? You can do compilations, right? That counts as a novel? *checks somewhere*
When you start adding your book, I'm gonna put it in my shelf. (Which reminds me--isn't putting your novel on the internet like that (chapters and all) dangerous? I mean, you lose first print that way, right? Not to mention, how is it protected? Unless only members can read it, which isn't saying much.)
