Leon almost sleepwalked his way to the table, taking his accustomed seat. He picked up the cup by rote and took a sip. Damn, he'd forgotten how hot hot tea could be, he hadn't had it since... since the last time he'd had it with D.
He almost inhaled the sweet treat upon the plate, barely noticing the delicacy of its consistency, the fineness of its frosting, but he did notice there was fruit on it. He ate it anyway.
"I've been looking for you ever since you ran off," he mumbled through his cake, before washing it down with some of the tea. Carefully, this time. Taking the fork, he scraped the plate of its residual frosting, and licked it clean. It had been a long time since he'd had anything near as good as what D made.
"I wasn't glad you were gone," he said honestly. Leon may have been a lot of things, but a liar he was not. "I... I... " He swallowed again, but not because of the cake, dropping his voice to a barely audible level. "I was worried about you," he said. Focusing on his fingers, he licked them clean. It was either that or look at D, and he didn't feel up to that at the moment.
Luckily or unluckily, the shop bell tinkled just then.
