Who: Count D, Doctor Hannibal Lecter, and a special guest appearance by Detective Leon Orcot (Clarice is also quite welcome to join in the fun, and anyone who may be in the vicinity of a certain petshop in Washington DC) What: a chase is afoot Where: in the Washington DC environs When: current time Rating/Status: tbd/incomplete
Detective Leon Orcot was a determined man. Some might even call him stubborn. Certainly he'd heard that epithet hurled at him numerous times by Count D, whether in amusement or a fit of pique or downright anger. And no matter the protestations that Leon made to the contrary, he knew the truth in the statement - he was a stubborn man, and he was determined to find the elusive Count, no matter how long the search might take. His brother Chris was in good hands, safe hands. Leon had no reason to anchor himself anywhere now that his guardianship of his little brother had ended.
He followed the mysterious pet shop owner from city to city, from Chinatown to Chinatown, but he never caught up with him; sometimes he was only a step or two behind. But that was still not good enough, would never be good enough until he had his quarry in hand. What then had never occurred to Leon, he was focused solely on the hunt.
After a while, his funds began to dry up, not surprisingly as he was spending them but not replacing them. Reluctantly, he was forced to take on small tasks, odd jobs, which only served to delay him in his objective. He only accepted commissions in areas that contained a Chinatown, though, determined to kill two birds with one stone. The man he was seeking, beside Count D, was on the FBI's ten most wanted list, but the request had not come from the FBI. They were not one to employ private agents when they possessed so very many trained men and women of their own. Although one might point out that these same trained men and women had been unable to apprehend the elusive Hannibal Lecter thus far. And Hannibal Lecter was a far more serious threat to society than Count D.
Leon wasn't even sure who his employer was, having received his original commission and hence any and all further instructions in strange and untraceable ways. But money was money, and his search had taken him to the nation's capital, Washington DC itself, pursuing a few leads he had managed to dig up. There had been a sighting of Lecter near Walter Reed. The report had been greatly exaggerated, to Leon's dismay, the result of a night nurse with a vivid imagination, but in the course of his investigation, he'd found another clue - mention of a new pet shop. In Chinatown. Definitely worth checking out.
Leon headed in that direction, despite the lateness of the hour, despite the disadvantage of the mist-shrouded streets which seemed determined to confuse and obfuscate the matter at hand. He was also completely unaware that he was being followed, and that the hunter had somehow become the prey.
