"Not far," Sirius promised, his hand sliding down Remus' arm to clasp his hand. Hand in hand, they made their way out of the castle, taking up a position close to the door. Sirius looked about, as if searching for someone. As he waited, he explained what was going on to Remus.
"I lost a bet to James," he explained, never dropping Remus' hand. "I know, don't yell." He raised his free hand defensively, as if afraid of Remus' lecture on the subject. "I shouldn't have, but I did, and he won."
He offered Remus a sheepish look. "So now I have to pay my share of the bet. But that is where you come in." He gave Remus a big bright smile. "I know you won't leave me in my time of need!" Before he could get out another word, they were descended upon by James, who was openly smirking.
"Ready for your little run?" he asked Sirius with a grin.
