Mortimer stared calmly at Ares until the god waved his hand to produce the feed and water for the horses. He cast a glance at Sebastian, then blinked at the appearance of the throne. There was an extravagant wine goblet now in the god's hand.
"Thank you," he said, tipping his black hat, being sincere about it.
Eclipse had scented the water and he let the horse walk over to the necessary refreshment. The Colonel dismounted while he considered how Ares should like horses since they were used for war as well as almost everything else both currently and in the past. He patted Eclipse's neck, thinking he'd have to give the steed a washing and good currying.
"I'll let you know if that's all," he said, conversationally, as he turned to look at Ares again. "I recall you from the party but how did you happen upon this fellow here?" He indicated Sebastian, glancing briefly at the young man.
