Bill Compton was only too well aware of what he'd done. He couldn't help but be reminded of it every damn night that he spent alone, without Sookie. But some things could not be undone, and this was one of them. How was he to know when the Queen had directed him to perform this duty for her that he would find himself involved with the subject in question? He hadn't counted on falling in love with Sookie, but he had. It was inevitable that once she learned the truth about him that she would be angry with him.
Still he couldn't help but hope to find himself back in her good graces once more.
Some day.
His eyes snapped open. He felt her. Felt something different, a new presence. And he didn't care for it. But there was nothing he could do at the moment, not until the sun went down.
Oh how he chafed at the restrictions he lived under!
