"I was just guessing," she said sweetly and trying to reassure him, "It sounded like you weren't used to leaving the office to work that's all." She liked his laugh it was nice and kind and didn't hide what he was feeling which made it honest.
Sookie thought it was truly remarkable that Max wrote advice to people in need and it seemed to her that he knew what he was talking about if he had a fiance and he talked about him like he loved him. If only Max had time to hear about her rollercoaster of a love life, but it would probably take til closing time and later to cover every lose end, heartache, and other injuries brought to her because of love.
"No, it's okay." she reassured him. She really liked the man, most the time people wanted her to leave as soon as she got the order lest they be in the presence of a minimum wage waitress any longer. "I really like hearing about your work and your life, but I should put in your order so you can eventually get what you came for and get back to your life," she said friendly and with a small life. "But I'll come back with your drink soon," she promised and turned around toward the window, completely ignoring Sam's face and Arlene's attitude about everything. Max was a harmless and kind soul that definitely didn't bring about a cause to doubt otherwise in Merlotte's. She gave his order to the kitchen staff and went to get the man his water behind the bar.
She walked back to Max's booth and placed the tall glass of ice water on the table and pulled a straw from her apron pocket, "Here you go Mr. Montague," she said sweetly and just realizing that his last name was the same as one of the most famous characters in history let alone Shakespearean literature.
