Plot Announcement
Hi all, your friendly neighbourhood mods here with the first of our gamewide plots, open for you to hop in and take part in if you so desire. If this plot isn’t going to be one that your characters can be involved in at this moment, please don’t worry, other large-scale game plots are in the works and will be speckled through the next few months to make sure everyone gets a go.
The plot details are behind the cut, drop a note on here if you want to be involved and haven’t already been called out as being part of it within the main write up, I’m sure we can work away for you to be involved!
As with all cities in the US, especially major ones that have a ~draw, there is a huge number of homeless people. These are drug or alcohol addicts, those that have fallen on hard times, runaways etc. They’re vulnerable, among some of the most vulnerable in society which makes them easy targets for people to pick on. LA’s homeless are unaccounted for; there’s no database that marks how many there are and no sign in sheet to make sure that everyone who was there yesterday is still there today.
Over the last six months, some of LA’s homeless youth have been going missing. These are the ones that no one really cares about, that no one would notice were gone. They’re all between the ages of sixteen and twenty-six. It started small, one a month, maybe two or three, but the numbers are steadily increasing.
A number of missing persons’ reports have been filed which have finally been noticed in the LAPD. The Detective in charge of the case is Wyatt Kane, who has begun a detailed - and admittedly difficult - investigation into what’s happening with the missing youth. It’s probably nothing more than vagrancy; moving on and away as the season passes, looking for other places to squat and call home. Some might have just up and left LA, but it needs to be looked into.
On April 26th anonymous tip will be dropped into the mailboxes of investigative reporters Noelle Pascal and Troy Hendricks of the LA Star, a reporter at the LA Times as well to Wyatt Kane, suggesting that the missing persons were not quite so routine. Attached is a video file showing a black van with no plates or identifying marks, ushering a skinny teen into the back. She was staggering and looked like she was possibly under the influence of some kind of drug. The email is signed off ‘The Cheshire Cat’, and is untraceable back to its original location.
This is where our plot begins.
Major players:
Wyatt Kane - lead detective
Troy Hendricks - journalist, investigator
Noell Pascal - photojournalist, investigator
Zack Welsch - The Cheshire Cat
Grayson Wilder - [redacted]
Anyone else who wants to be part of the plot, feel free to hit us up, the comments to this post are screened.
The plot is intended to run over the next three months with major breaks being dropped through to involved players by the mods, run a little bit like a D&D Campaign, information will be fed through IC and can be derived from scenes/logs etc with specific outcomes to help further the plot (details can and will be dropped via email to keep it a mystery for those not involved!).
It will be resolved before the end of August, allowing for the second major in-game plot to start kicking off - which is due to begin in June.
