Daniel Penbrook {Reaction}
Daniel had not been kidding when he said to Holland that he might go along to the "seminar" as he was nothing if not the sort to want to acquaint himself with all the going ons in the city he now called home. Besides, the Magisterium would have questions and it would be better for him to be prepared than not. He trailed in, made himself perfectly comfortable amongst the crowd which filled the seats around him, arms stretched out across the back of the chairs and dark eyes fixed on the spectacle.
And it was quite the spectacle.
He could smell Incubus as well and it all became clear as the speaker took to the floor and introduced himself and began his spiel. And what a spiel it was. As expected people ate it up, reveling in the sense of being special and cared for and finding what they considered a place in an otherwise unforgiving world. Daniel observed them all quite idly, noting how their postures suggested a lack of confidence and an unwillingness to make eye contact affirmed to Daniel that these were the kind of people who were ripe for the picking, easy catches, all you needed was the right bait. It would seem that this "Path" was exactly that, the lure to draw them in and then what? They go forth into the world, spread the word, and draw more "like-minded" individuals into the fold
The vampire was there until the end and continued his observation as most filed out but others lingered. Clearly they were on the hook, wiggling, and were eager to find out more. Sincerity in belief was one thing but nothing and nobody was as pure as what this church was selling, there was a catch, there had to be. You could wrap sentiments up in the guise of being heartfelt and genuine but regardless of the foil you used to gild the lily there was still the unsettling undercurrent of the fact there was a distinct mass hysteria and blinkered approach which edged it closer and closer to being a cult.
And it would seem it had set up shop in Los Angeles which despite the 'Angel' in its name was anything but at times.
Daniel made a mental note to keep an eye on the going ons of this church as he had a feeling it would be pervasive and if it had an Incubus at the helm then influence was an issue. He inhaled, rose to his feet, let his gaze linger and then headed towards the door.
