There was an odd energy about this one that Jett had to fight to ignore. At some intervals, they could deal with people and the complications that the developing humanity offered. It wasn't a bad thing, seeing the world grow and change with times, watching advancements be made, like the charging of electricity through just touch.
But there was also the occasional pang for the old ways, when things were simpler and more controlled, when the world moved slower and people were less involved in giant leaps. They knew it was partly about their age, getting to the point where things just seemed too different. But the build up in all the animosity was familiar in a different way.
It was why Jett took a moment to scrutinise the hand offered before lifting their own and giving a tight, quick squeeze and shake in greeting. This was why they arranged to meet clients when they were in a mood for people. "A water with ice will suffice." The offer of coffee was kind, perhaps something to assuage the rudeness of placing themselves in someone else's space so suddenly. But given that Jett didn't drink blood in public and they didn't need caffeine in their system, water would do.
"And you are welcome, Johnny." But it was clear that the other was trying, to Jett would extend the same courtesy for now.
