Who: Grayson Wilder [Narrative]
What: Out on the streets you have to look out for each other
When: Late, 25th April
Where: Random vagrant camp
Rating: PG
Warnings: n/a
It was late, it was dark and it was cold. Three things Grayson was rather intimately acquainted with but as he huddled down into his sleeping bag he couldn't help but notice some sort of commotion taking place on the fringes of the vagrant camp.
Two of the boys he'd gotten to know, Eddie and Martin, seemed to be talking to somebody and it wasn't the first time Grayson had seen that guy around. Honestly he gave Grayson the creeps, there was just something about him that seemed... off. Couldn't put his finger on it, but his instincts were screaming at him and abandoning what little warmth he'd managed to generate he stalked over to where both Eddie and Martin were.
"Everything okay?"
Eddie turned his head to look over at Grayson, his eyes wide and his breathing rushed, which told the wolf one thing and one thing only the guy was jonesing for a fix. "Yeah, course. Everything's cool. Isn't that right, Martin?"
Martin nodded eagerly, looking from the stranger to Grayson, definitely uncomfortable with the sudden appearance of Grayson. Almost as though they'd gotten caught doing something they shouldn't.
Grayson's eyes lifted to regard the man in question, a quick sniff told him that he was human, but that didn't set Grayson's nerves at ease. He was wary, mistrusting and he knew when somebody wanted something and this guy was giving that off in waves. "Well, as much fun as this is, standing here and not talking, how about you and Martin come back with me to the camp?"
"We're good right where we are," Eddie argued. "Right, Martin?"
Martin being Martin wasn't the strongest of characters and when Eddie said jumped he'd just ask how high and not even think about what came next and so he just nodded his head again. "Yeah, it's all good."
"Bullshit," Grayson spat out dismissively. "I know a fucking arrangement when I see one. What did he promise you, huh? Another fix?"
Eddie spun on Grayson, eyes wide and angry. "Shut up, Grayson! Seriously, just keep your nose out of our business. It does not involve you." He reached out and took a hold of Martin's arm. "C'mon, let's get out of here."
"You're seriously going to leave with this guy?" Grayson asked, jerking his thumb towards the stranger who had yet to speak a word to him.
"Yeah, we are," Eddie argued as he tugged Martin along with him.
Grayson pushed out a frustrated breath and stood there, powerless, annoyed and feeling very much as if he was just spitting into the wind as he watched both Eddie and Martin vanish off to God knew where to do God knew what with some guy that spent way too much time around homeless people. He had an angle, everybody had an angle, Grayson just hadn't figured out what his was but he had a sinking feeling he'd be seeing him again.
"Fuck," he uttered as he shook his head and turned to head back to where he'd left his sleeping bag though he knew one thing for damn certain: he was getting no sleep tonight.
