Who: Ryder Adams, Emma Clarke & Rhys Hunt
What: Conversations at the bar
When: 31 Jan, evening
Where: Tooth & Nail
Rating: PG-13
Ryder pushed out a breath and wiped down the bar. The lull between fights meant that the bar was always packed, the few servers that worked were inundated with requests, drowning under shouting supernatural and human patrons wanting to get their drinks in before they wandered away again to go back to the stalls and sit and watch the next fights. The cages, as they were, had fighters recovering in it. He’d snuck out once during a lull to watch Rhys in his first fight of the night. He was in the middle of the crowd, unnoticed by most (he thought), and had watched most of the fight but had disappeared just before the end to get back behind the bar before anyone noticed that he’d gone. Watching the fights closer was a more intoxicating experience than he’d anticipated it being and it was only because someone had knocked into him that he’d been broken out of watching and realised he needed to hurry back to the bar. He hadn’t ventured out again, and that had been three fights ago. A woman sitting at the bar - she smelt like Kira and Rhys, so he knew she was a wolf - had been half-turned away for most of the evening watching the fights and he couldn’t help but wonder if she was rooting for someone or if she was just coming by as a spectator. What he did know, however, was that her drink was almost empty and from the roaring of the crowd he figured that Rhys’ third - and final - fight of the night had just come to an end and he would be swinging his way up to the bar, slightly bloodied and sweat and arrogant soon enough. A part of Ryder was irritated with himself that he looked forward to it. He’d be at Midnight for the next few nights so he wouldn’t be here, but for now, he tapped the bar to get the woman’s attention. “You want a refill?” |
