Al had landed not terribly far away, but with the lack of any special light shows, it had evaded notice. After the initial bout of freaking out, he set toward the town, trying to find out where he was, and how he got there.
He'd wandered in and out of several stores, until he overheard someone mention a temporal mess they heard about on the news.
"Excuse me, miss, where might I be able to listen to this news report?" Al asked. He hadn't seen any radios at the store counters the way he was used to back home.
The woman looked at him and blinked. "Um. You could probably try Domino's Bar and Grill over there. They have a bunch of TVs, I bet one's tuned into the news."
Al thanked her and followed her instructions, and walked in. He slipped past the hostess station and into the bar area, staring in surprise at the large, colorful, moving pictures on the walls. He tried to figure out where the projections were coming from, and found no light source. It was noisy, the different stations overlapping in chatter.
Finally, with the aid of the moving words on the picture screen, he was able to determine which one was showing things relevant to his interests.
