It was difficult to keep from watching the stranger approach. She did her best to play coy and was delighted the waiter took her order. This man's presence was making her nervous. Rarely did she notice men in general. She'd been able to mentally move on from Steve thirty years ago, but physically she'd avoided any romantic encounters. Diana loved once, with everything she had. Intimate less than a handful of times, she missed lying in Steve's arms. She missed many things. Diana felt she'd had her shot, her only shot. Little did she realize how interesting her dinner partner would be.
"Me?" She laughed, "I don't mind at all." She smiled watching the doctor sit. He moved differently than most men, he had an innate grace about him, something most male dancers would give anything to possess. "Someone had to sit there, you smell good and look handsome. As long as you don't slurp, I call that a win-win in my book." Sticking out her hand, to her companion, she introduced herself. "Hello, Dr. Strange, I'm Diana Prince, one of the five of us who doesn't deserve this award." Placing her napkin in her lap, she turned to look at Stephen Strange.
"I admit Googling you. You've got a reputation." Diana paused, giving a pleasant smile. "Everything they write about you can't be true. Tell me what's, if you wouldn't mind?"
The three others wandered in a full five minutes before the event was to start. Michael gave her a warm smile, as he sat his lovely wife at a table just below theirs. It was a friend and family table for the honorees. Diana wouldn't have any friends or family sitting there to support her.
