He had walked into the bar apprehensively which wasn’t good for a former soldier or a wolf. They smelled fear and even though he didn’t think he’d go toe to toe with an Alpha, he had a little more mind to continue on his path to self preservation. In fact, if he hadn’t run into Violet that night he might’ve been on his way out of Colorado. What made him paranoid was the fact that the hunter was out there and as much as he wanted to believe he had shaken her for the time being, he had to be on guard.
Walking through the crowd, he had wondered if he’d even recognize him. He was sure Violet’s brother had been more behind the scenes than he had noticed. Then again, he had been crushed for a while, so he hadn’t really taken notice of anything after that. Scanning everyone at eye level, he had failed to see the chair slipping into his pathway until his legs hit it. Glaring at Bren, he knew it had to be him. “Nope, I just found it.” Holding onto the back of the chair to make sure Bren could push it no further, he took a seat, sitting straight up and keeping enough distance between the two of them. “Violet’s brother, huh?”
