Dan wasn't sure who he had been expecting to see in the office. Maybe Trey? Maybe Theo? Maybe even James! Or maybe he just hadn't thought it through and the office seemed a place to start because he had no clue who was in what room and he didn't want to barge in on anyone. But he hadn't exactly been expecting Rachel. The last time he had seen her she had not had a smile on her face, but then again, nobody had if he remembered right? It hadn't exactly been a happy fun-times move. So, seeing a smile on the widow's face...was a mixture of nice, surprise, and it kicked Dan's awkward nerves into high gear (though he'd never admit it).
"Hi...hi Rachel..." He repeated himself, clearing his throat and grinning a little bit as he looked at her, shaking his head. "No, no, nobody had to come and get me. I'm here. I'm back." He said, repeating some of what he had already said. He was just a little bit awkward around women, and part of him was wondering why she was smiling like that. Why was she so happy? What had happened while he'd been gone. "It's...uh...nice to see your smile back, did I miss a lot? You know....while I was gone..." He tacked on lamely.
Even with how much he was stumbling over his words and everything right now, it was good to be back. He knew that now he wasn't alone anymore. He had his pack behind him again. He definitely preferred it that way too.
