This was one of the times when Jo wished she'd decided to run to New York and stay with Grace instead of going all the way to Colorado. It was hard being so far away from home, knowing next to no one, and trying to rebuild her life all at the same time. At least there she would have had her best friend helping her pick up the pieces. The only thing that had stopped her was the possibility of Ian finding her and Grace getting caught in the crossfire.
She was just about to walk back to her truck when she heard a crashing in the bushes and trees behind her. Jumping to her feet, she whipped her phone back out in case she needed to call for help. Unsure of what to do next, she listened closer, trying to determine what exactly it was that was coming towards her. That was when she heard it; a voice she knew as well as she knew her own mother's. She had no idea how it was possible unless she could now summon people to her just by thinking about them.
Taking off into the bushes, she started calling back. "Grace? Grace, I'm here! Where are you?" she yelled, praying that this wasn't just her mind playing a dirty trick on her.
