Emerson shook his head. "No, there was absolutely nothing wrong with you. I can't imagine how that must've felt," he said. Though to a degree that wasn't true. He was feeling it a little bit now, with his worries that she and Reed might develop something more than their friendship. She was a girl; he couldn't compete with that. But he didn't want to think about it now. Focusing on her situation was what he wanted to do.
"It's a tricky situation, you know? He can't help it that he's attracted to boys, and it's certainly not your fault or anything you did wrong as his girlfriend either. There's no one to blame, which makes it harder to pinpoint the cause. Though, it probably would've been thoughtful if he'd talked to you about it before he went off and started to explore that side of himself." He shook his head and sighed. "I apologize. It's not my place to say things like that."
