Reed saw the tears escape and this time he was the one who got to wipe them away. "Why are you crying?" he asked, confused and exhausted from his emotional outburst.
The entire world outside of Emerson felt grey and fuzzy, not real. Emerson was the only one who was in focus, but Reed was still feeling like he'd been rubbed raw. He felt like he wouldn't be able to smile for a month, and that perhaps he might just not have the energy to get up out of bed for that amount of time too.
Perhaps there was something to be said for regular emotional outbursts.
