Emerson wasn't usually shy when meeting people; years of etiquette schooling as a child had weened him away from any sort of shyness he would've had growing up. However, meeting his boyfriend's family had a little added pressure to meeting someone new. Fortunately for Emerson, Reed and Selene seemed so comfortable with each other that there was no awkward tension. Reed had introduced him so calmly, and Selene received him very welcomingly. Emerson wasn't used to that sort of greeting, but he hugged her back and smiled.
"Likewise, thank you," he said, as he pulled back. "Reed's spoken very highly of you. I've been looking forward to this very much."
