His enthusiasm over his relatives eased the tension in him and he shifted closer, laughing over his eagerness. "Well.. let's see. They're nice. They took me in when my parents freaked out. Jim, my uncle, was married to a preppy ditz, but then they got divorced. He moved over here, met Lyddia, and that was about it." He moved further up the bed, wanting to lean against the headboard. "Jim's laid back, funny, a sports nut too. We get on well. He's not as serious as my dad.. he doesn't expect as much. Then again, he's the original black sheep. As for Lyddia, she's brilliant. Really sweet, fabulous cook, lighthearted and funny.. she's used to the whole wizard thing because Selene is muggleborn. It was a bit of a shock for Jim, originally, but he accepted it pretty well. And Selene is just ridiculous. She's 25, completely nuts, studies with the Ministry during the day and works at a muggle club at night."
Reed reached down to lace fingers with Emerson, then realised he was still sitting on his hands. Amused, he tugged on one of them and pulled his hand into his own lap, tracing patterns on his palm with his fingers. "I don't know how long Lyddia has been teaching, I think a while.. she's only 31, so however long normal study takes, I guess. She went to a fairly prominant art school, I think. And they're going to adore you. Really, you don't have to worry."
He 'forgot' to answer the last question about what he'd told them about Emerson, but realistically it was incredibly embarassing. He'd raved abut how sweet and caring he was, how gorgeous he looked, how big his heart was. He'd raved to Jim over how protective he was, even though he was such a little thing, and over how adorable his complete lack of sports prowness was. He'd raved to Lyddia about his talent at drawing, at how smart he was. And he'd raged to Selene over what had happened, of Reed's carelessness, of how broken Emerson had been afterwards, and of course over his inadequacy at not being able to say the three words he wanted to say more than anything.
