"You're welcome." Saffron whispered in Vee's ear as she hugged her just as tightly back.
Stepping back from her friend she watched as Vee went to the cake to cut it and smirked slightly, for both Vee's wish and Stephen's surprise in the cake. She wondered what it was. The look on Vee's face as she made her wish caused Saffron's smile to soften. Saffron had thought one found great friends, people who understood you, only once. She'd found Bet and Liam her second year. When she was a child and everything was new, and she loved them. She never thought she would have been blessed again to find Vee and Stephen.
Saffron knew she wasn't the easiest of people to deal with. Yet all four of them had stuck around and she promised herself that she would always be there for them. No matter what. They were family too.
As she thought this she leaned a bit forward, being taken by the anticipation of the moment and the anticipation of a gift about to be discovered. She truly did love the entire present process. Even when she wasn't the one receiving it, although not as much as when she was.
