"Shit." He closed his eyes for a moment, tightly, before continuing. "You know, someday you're going to need that soul of yours. You're not going to want it in the possession of a complete and total bitch."
"She's not a total bitch. Plus, he's her son. I don't think she'd really want him to lose his voice," Cho said, biting her lip.
Ben narrowed his eyes. "Maybe not. But forgive me if I'm a little biased."
"I know," she said, letting her shoulders fall a little. "I don't have a choice, and I'll be rich someday anyway."
"Yeah..." Ben sighed. "If I had access to the vault, I'd give you the money in a heartbeat."
"Thank you," Cho said, the sides of her lips quirking up a little. "It's probably best that I not use any Abbott money on this, anyway."
Staring at a spot between them on the floor, Ben covered his face in his hands, and then slid them back into his wet hair. "You're a hard girl to be friends with, you know," he said, giving her a bug-eyed look with his hands still hooked behind his head. "You should just marry me. It would solve all your problems."
"Cho Fox doesn't sound all that bad."
He smirked. "It's descriptive, anyway," he said. "Much better than Cho Abbott. Or Cho Wood."
"So I should change my middle name to Isa first?"
"When we sign the marriage certificate," he said. "Get it done all at once." The grin fell from his lips and he glanced away. "Just give me some notice, you know, before you make any big decisions. Even if I can't take sides, I have to be around to pick up the pieces, either way."
"I might still marry him. I do love him," she said quietly.
