Cho tipped her potion vial back and watched as the pale yellow potion slid from one side to the other. Well, it looked harmless, possibly even tame. Of course, Cho knew that its sickly, treacle sweet taste was anything but tame, making drinking it equivalent to sucking syrup from a sugar quill straw. Still, she didn't think a little more would hurt her per se, and it was the only solution she could come up with at the moment. She needed it. For Quinn. Today, the day of his album release, was supposed to be all about him, and everything needed to be perfect, herself included.
"To Quinny," she said, holding the small vial up and clinking it against its reflection in the bathroom mirror. Then, plugging her nose she brought it to her lips and swallowed the potion in one gulp.
"Blech," she said, tossing the empty vial with the other two on the counter. She reached into the drawer to pull out the last one--just in case--and made a mental note to remember to get more from St. Mungo's. Slipping it into her purse, she glanced at her reflection in the mirror one last time and forced a smile. Well, she at least looked perfect in her glittery make up, jean skirt and "Quinny's muse" t-shirt. She could (and would) certainly play the part today, she reminded herself as she slipped out of the bathroom and into her bedroom to find her boots that he liked.
When she was ready with her boots and jacket on, she swung her bedroom door open and leaned against the door frame. "Quinny?"
"Watching telly!" Quinn called back from the sitting room, over the roar of Indiana Jones snapping his whip coming from the speakers.
"The day your album is released?" Cho said, making a face as she walked towards him, her purse swinging from her shoulder. "You should be celebrating."
"I am!" Quinn protested, looking over his shoulder at her. "Indy and then ice cream! Seriously, it's amazing."
Cho sat down next to him on the couch. "Is Indy almost over at least?"
"The amazing thing about this?" Quinn whispered, picking up the remote and pressing a button so the movie stopped. "Is I can finish it later. Isn't that brilliant?!"
Cho glanced at the telly for the first time, her eyebrow raised. "I'd like to do that with life."
"Pause, rewind, fast forward, stop? Yeah, that would really be brill..." trailing off, Quinn stared at the blank telly for a moment before jumping up and holding out his hand. "Come on! Ice cream first or album first?"
"Whichever you want first," she said, standing now. She smiled then--a little forced, but it came easier this time. She took his hand and headed toward the door, swinging their hands as they walked. "It's your day."
"Album, then ice cream, then home to listen?" he suggested, holding the door open for her to walk through first.
"We should listen to it somewhere exciting," she said, pausing a moment to consider. "Not here."
"Any suggestions?" Quinn prompted, locking the door behind them and heading for the lift.
"I'm not really the expert on 'exciting'," she said, biting down on her lip. She only knew that she needed to be away if she needed to keep up the happy facade. "Maybe the middle of the alley? We can dance in the street like they do in Spain."
"Did you bring a portable Wireless?" he laughed.
"Well, no." She frowned and a crease appeared between her eyes. "Can't we buy one?"
"Sure! Maybe they'll give me one since it's my album?!" Quinn wondered, dragging her into the lift behind him. "Do you think I'm famous enough for that yet?"
Laughing, Cho shook her head. "Maybe! You never know. You were in Witch Weekly..."
"Oh!" Stopping, Quinn turned to grab both her hands. "We should go in separately and you can come in and be a fangirl and buy my album and get my autograph and it would be awesome!"
