"They were engaged from the time she was born," Hannah said, and then looked up. "I can't imagine that, can you?"
"I would like to see my father just try that," Cho said with a laugh. "An arranged marriage! I'd probably be married to--" She stopped. "--Ben."
Hannah grinned. "At least we'd still be cousins," she said, and then she figured she'd better change the subject quickly, before Cho had a chance to wonder how she'd known about the arranged marriage. "Speaking of which, I want to hear all about the plans you've made for the wedding."
"You'd have to ask Marc," Cho said with a little shrug.
"Is he that bad?"
"No, he's funny," Cho said. "And helpful."
"Oh good," Hannah said. "But shouldn't you...don't you just tell him what you want and have him make it happen?"
"Yeah, I do," Cho said. "My mind just changes a lot." She sighed. "Do you think she loves him now? Bernadette, I mean."
Hannah frowned as much at the fact that her attempt to change the subject had changed as at the question. "No," she said firmly. "They treat each other like business partners. All I could feel between them in the dining room was distance."
"Yeah," Cho said with a long sigh. "Was the dinner all right otherwise?"
"Everyone lived through it," she said, shrugging the shoulder that was bearing the least amount of baby weight. "His father gave me the Obliviation lecture, and they gave Quinn a hard time about quitting his job, and I got called a mistake, which is one of my very favourite things to be called, and then I got to spend some quality time with his mother. And then we went back to my place and ate some real food."
