"Yeah, sure," she said. "I think I'm all done here, anyway."
"Brilliant," Hannah said, and went over and pressed the button for the lift. "Cho...when you started out as a Healer, were you ever...nervous about getting things right?"
"All the time," Cho answered, her voice quiet. "I still am. All the time. If I make a mistake it could cost someone there life or their career. It's scary."
The doors to the lift opened, and they got inside. "I went to the Janus Thickey ward this morning with Frost," Hannah said, pressing the button for the fifth floor. "There are patients there who had their minds completely messed up by botched Obliviations, and I made myself look for the flaws, find the places where the Obliviator ruined their lives. The errors were all so tiny. And Mr. Chambers says he remembers the name of every Obliviator who puts someone in there...."
"You can't think about him," Cho said after a long moment. "You can't let him win."
The doors to the lift opened, and Hannah led the way over to one of the tables. "I don't know," she said as she sat down. "I don't think pressure is a bad thing in this situation. Because I have to be perfect anyway. Knowing that he'll think even less of me than he already does if I get it wrong makes sure that I have that at the forefront of her mind." She frowned, glancing down and then back up at Cho. "How do you manage it? Knowing that so much is at stake?"
"I don't know," Cho said, looking down at the table. "I suppose because... so much more is at stake if we don't do it. Someone needs to take care of blokes like Ben." She smiled. "Cause Merlin knows he can't do it himself. Someone has to."
Hannah smiled. "That's very true. He'd better appreciate you a--" She was interrupted by a plump, matronly woman holding a pad of parchment and a quill. Hannah promptly asked for anything they had with chocolate in it, and then looked at Cho. "Do you know what you want?"
"The same," Cho said. "It seems like a chocolate day."
"So are you looking forward to Luxembourg?" Hannah asked when they were alone again.
"That's one of the great perks of my job." Cho grinned. "I love to travel, so I think that's a yes."
"Have you been there before?"
"Yeah, I went with the Bats before I was with Puddlemere." She shrugged. "What about you?"
"Once, to watch Uncle Tim play," Hannah said, "but I was too young to remember much."
"Where would you go if you could just pack up and leave today?"
"Oh...I don't know! It's hard to choose," Hannah said. "But today I think I'd want to go somewhere warm. Anywhere warm, with a lot of chocolate, so...somewhere in Latin America. What about you?"
"My own private island," Cho said. "Which doesn't exist yet, but it will. It'll be warm, too. Failing that, I really like Italy."
"Can I come with you?" Hannah asked, smiling now. "To either place. I'm not picky."
Cho laughed. "Katie probably fits better in my suitcase, but you're welcome to try."
Hannah grinned. "I'll hide in your garment bag. That way I can stretch out."
"And Katie can still come," Cho said. "So, where are you headed after this?"
