WHO: Adrian and Demelza WHERE: Arcadia Park and Adrian's flat WHEN: Saturday, 5pm WHAT: Dez takes matters into her own hands, Adrian doesn't react as she expected... Incomplete
Five o'clock rolled around and Adrian put away his violin with some reluctance. Sometimes he wished that he hadn't sent such a strict schedule for the weekend, but with the final exams coming in a few months, he knew he couldn't afford to let things slide.
After changing into his running gear, which consisted of sweat pants, singlet and light jacket, and doing the right stretches, Adrian made his way to Arcadia Park. There was a space for sprints and he did those for twenty minutes, until he was sweating and feeling too hot to wear the jacket despite the winter chill. Tying the jacket around his waist, Adrian turned to jogging around the park lanes which were well lit by many lamps. As he ran, he let his mind wander as usual, the exercise helpful for sorting through his thoughts, only paying cursory attention to the other people around.
Bundled in her dark grey trench wool trench coat and bright pink scarf, hat and mittens, Dez was embracing her own inner thoughts. Part of her was still attempting to decide how she felt about Adrian, knowing that stalking him wasn't helping in the slightest, while the rest of her was attempting to decide what to do about those feelings. Of course what she did was really moot – she merely needed to act. It was time to use that courage she was supposed to have.
Good enough to have reached a decision about what she was going to do, but how to go about it? Now that was a tougher item of pondering. Her mittened hand rubbed against her lips as she tried to come to a conclusion of some kind. Though nothing in her limited existence had prepared her for this or gave her an idea. Romances were not her forte.
His mind had turned to Pansy's peculiar behaviour on Thursday and he was analysing the conversation again, trying to figure out what she hoped to achieve, when his eye caught a flash of bright pink up ahead. Focusing, in order not to mow down the person coming the other way, Adrian soon recognised the figure. He was torn between a groan and a sense of tingling anticipation. Dez Robins had literally stalked him since he returned to London on Tuesday and he was both amused and annoyed as well as impressed by her tenacity.
He knew she was disappointed that he didn't follow through with another meeting, but after some practical thinking, Adrian concluded it wasn't a good idea to get involved. For all her claims, he didn't think she would be satisfied with a one night stand and that was all he could offer her. There was a duty to family and the Pucey name to consider after all. Plus he still had to maintain good relations with his former housemates if he was going to be a proper liaison between them and the Auror office, and Adrian knew just how they would react to him dating a muggleborn former Gryffindor. Doors would shut faster than he could blink. No, he convinced himself, Dez Robins wasn't worth risking all his hard work and family peace.
So Adrian set his gaze at a point beyond the girl's shoulder, prepared to jog straight past her.
Dez heard the pounding feet coming up behind her and merely shifted slightly to the side to make room for the runner. As the person passed her, she turned to watch as people watching was one of her very favorite hobbies.
The strides and ease of the movements were relaxed as her eyes roved from his feet up to his face. When she realized who it was, Dez beamed and reached out to him. "Adrian!" she cried with pleasure.
Since the only option was to be extremely rude and ignore her cry completely, Adrian drew to a halt and turned, his eyebrows raising slightly. "Ah.. good evening, Miss Robins," his mouth turned up in a half smile that he couldn't completely control. Damn.
"Mr. Pucey," she beamed with pleasure, threading her hand through his arm and slowing him so he had to walk with her or be forced to drag her along. "Now, how have you been? We seem to have kept missing each other." Her face was wreathed in smiles and her voice warm and inviting, teasing both of them.
Sly girl. Seemed like she should be a Slytherin rather than a Gryffindor. Adrian shut down his expression to one of merely polite interest. Surely without encouragement, she would give up. "Really now? Imagine that. Perhaps you would like to petition the Auror office to ease up on the workload then," he said blandly, not asking how she was or initiating any friendly contact. He had to give her points for taking his sweaty arm and not being bothered by the fact his body was damp from exertion. Speaking of which, now he wasn't running, he was cooling down rapidly.
"Oh I don't believe that you need less work, but clearly, more play," Dez teased before adding, "and put your coat on before you catch your death of a cold." She seemed to pause and consider things before adding, "Now, we can walk back to your flat, let you have a shower and then have dinner and catch up." She gave him a beaming smile, telling him he wasn't going to get away so easily this time.
He snorted then. If she thought he was just going to roll over and say yes, then she had another thought coming. "Unfortunately Miss Robins, I still have half an hours running time to put in," Adrian now pulled away, not a rude jerk, but a firm removal of her hand so he could step back. "You might recall my answer to question five about the fitness requirements for an Auror and with physical exams coming up, I have to maintain a strict schedule. Which means I don't cut short my training, not even..." and now he did lean forward, pitching his voice to that rasp which hinted at passion, just to play her at her own game. "for play."
And he did play rather well because his words and the hints in his voice sent a thrill down her spine. The kind of thrill that set a part of her on fire – the kind of fire that had only one conclusion, one way to satisfy it. Reaching out, Dez knew it was time for action. Her hands grasp his shirt and tugged him toward her. With quick reaction, she fastened her mouth over his, kissing him with all the desire that curled through her at his mere presence in her life.
When she was done, she released him and stepped back. "I'll see you at your flat in 5 minutes then. Wear something nice."
He didn't expect that, but he should have, Adrian ruefully acknowledged before his desires took over his rational senses and he was responding to her kiss. His eyes were dark with desire when she let go, mirroring what was in her face, but he laughed at her order. He wasn't THAT green! One kiss - smashing as it was - wouldn't make him roll over and beg.
"You can go to my flat if you want, Miss Robins, but you will be waiting outside for thirty minutes," he said firmly and turned away from her. He had actually meant it when he said that he didn't cut short his training. Adrian's goal was to graduate at the top and giving in to the baser urges of his body wasn't going to achieve that. If she happened to be outside his flat when he was done then he would deal with that then, but now he would finish his run.
Dez had no intention of giving up. Thirty minutes gave her plenty of time to be ready to appeal to some of his baser instincts. This time she let him go and merely smirked as he jogged off. He would be hers – no matter what she had to do.
When he had left, she turned to make her way back to her flat. Her brown eyes danced with pleasure as she raced home, changed into her brand new dark blue jeans, a well worn dark green t-shirt, smooth enough to be like a second skin over the dark satin bra. Combined with a pair of elegant suede boots, Dez left the flat and arrived just outside of Adrian's flat almost exactly 30 minutes later.
By choosing to end his run on the route home, Adrian was at his flat before she arrived, although only by a couple of minutes. He didn't bother showering, tidying up or doing anything that would encourage her. He was relatively tidy anyway, so apart from some books and papers for study on the dining room table along with his violin and some items of clothing tossed over the back of a chair, the flat wasn't a pigsty.
He was drinking some juice when he heard light footsteps outside and with a casual wave of his wand along with a non-verbal spell, he opened the door for her. "Eager, aren't you?"
"Would you rather I played it cool and calm and stayed as far away as possible?" Dez said, offering him a smirk, coming into the flat and shutting the door behind her. It wasn't time for running, it was time to at least have a little fun – to indulge her desires. "Oh intellectually you might, but physically, I think you have to admit you're not interested in me leaving." Part of Dez was frightened that she'd even said those words and part of her was hoping to god he would darn well do something about it instead of running.
"You really do swing from one extreme to another, don't you?" Adrian put down his glass and folded his arms, nettled by her words. All right, fine, if she wanted to keep pushing and play it this way then he would take her literally. She wanted a caveman, she wanted to indulge her base desires and she had promised no repercussions.
"All right, Dez," he unfolded his arms and stalked towards her, eyes intent and dangerous. "I have a few spare minutes, if you're so interested in entertaining me then I'll bite. Just remember, you asked for it," and with that he grabbed her, in one smooth movement tossing her over his shoulder, giving her rump a little smack. "Caveman tactics, just like you wanted. Hope you don't like those clothes too much as I'll be ripping them off soon," Adrian remarked as he started walking towards his bedroom.
A startled shriek escaped from her as Dez fell over his shoulder. To be perfectly honest, she had no idea what she was doing other than attempting to stay afloat mentally. Her hands reached out and grabbed his waist as she attempted to keep her head up. "Adrian!" she cried, unaware of what she had done to make him react in such a manner. Her brown eyes were wide and her nails dug into his hips to hold herself still.
"Yes? Was there something you wanted? Or are you practising for later?" Adrian was merciless and didn't halt his steps. He heard the startled note in her voice, but he already had a feeling that this wasn't exactly what she had in mind. The girl was still naive in many ways and she didn't know him half as well as she thought. Adrian wasn't planning on raping her, but he knew some men who would just from the amount of provocation she'd done and therefore Demelza Robins needed a little scare to remind her to do her homework.
Entering the bedroom, he tossed her down on the bed and then removed his singlet, tossing it to one side. "Let's not waste anymore time, hm?"
