And I ask for no redemption WHO:Rick & Beth WHERE: Marrowood Sheriff's Station WHEN: Sunday WHAT: Beth visits the station, Rick checks on the littlest duckling from his group WARNINGS: None that I can fathom. STATUS: Complete
Even with the coming and going of his people more times than he could recall it still wasn't something Rick would ever get used to. Every time from another unusual time he hadn't yet remembered, or from some point in the past. He had seen and heard other folks and their people coming in at different times. Just another side effect of where they were.
Time didn't change how Rick felt about his people. They were his family, and he'd give his life for them, in this world or theirs. No matter how behind or forward he was or what was or wasn't to come.
What was within his control, the here and now, protecting and watching over who was within Marrowood for however long they remained. From his point in time, it had been awhile since Beth had separated from them. He'd seen her for a short while in Marrowood but nothing in his timeline. She seemed grateful to be away from whatever hell that Hospital had put her through, and Rick of course was thankful she was as safe a one could be here, with her own people.
He didn't want to come off strongly or overbearing to any of their people who came into what was an open community. Obviously, he wanted them to stick together for safety's sake, but they were all survivors and he wasn't trying to add to what was already a difficult situation. Beth had thankfully set up at the house they had taken over and had stopped by to check in with him. Since Carl had disappeared Rick had taken to working himself into not dwelling on it. Daryl and Beth arriving helped. He could focus on them and getting them settled and acquainted.
"I'm sorry I didn't come help get you settled in." He spoke up from his desk, currently making over the patrolling schedule and prepping ideas for Logan's medical help. Slightly reminiscent of when he was a deputy, with the added help of Emma Swan, Michonne, and the others who volunteered their help. "It's been..It's been a rough few weeks, you'll see for yourself soon enough." It had gone to quiet before the storm once more. Nothing Rick wanted Beth to experience but nothing within his control. Also no excuse for negligence, but he wouldn't get hung up over what he could only work to fix now.
