Spencer looked up to see the person he had bumped into, and his lips pressed together to form a tight smile. "Uh, yeah," he said to her when she asked if he was the new guy. Spencer looked at their surroundings. It had the makings of a small town, and he imagined that everyone that was there knew one another. It would make things cozy, and Spencer wasn't sure about all of that. He looked at the girl though, and pulled down on his cardigan.
"I must stick out like a sore thumb," he said with an awkward chuckle. "Doctor Spencer Reid," he said to her with a nod of his head. He held out his hand toward her. "You must be Kenzi." He only knew that because out of all the people that he had spoken with over the network, Kenzi was the only one that called him Doc. "It's nice to finally meet you, face-to-face, I mean. You know I think it's interesting what technology has given us. The internet has made the world smaller since we are able to talk to people on the other side of the planet, and yet it makes social interactions almost obsolete."
Reid swallowed the small lump in his throat, and let out a forceful breath. "So uh, nice eye patch," he said in an awful attempt to make conversation. He caught his faux pas a little too late, and bit down on his lip. "Sorry if it's not something you want to talk about. It's just very... sparkly."
