When Leslie first arrived she was alone. Completely and utterly alone, and it devastated Leslie more than she was willing to admit. She had reached out to others in the town, and she had indeed made a lot of new friends. But that couldn't compare to the safety or the warmth she got from the people she knew in Pawnee. The happiest day was when Andy arrived, and then Ben and Donna and Leslie almost burst. She wasn't alone, and that gave her strength.
Her eyes widened, and she smiled broadly. "No one can do persistence better than me," she said to him. Leslie had a very special skill in breaking people down until they just gave her what they wanted. This place was no different, and even if it took hundreds of calls, messages, and deliveries to the mayor before she broke she would do it. Nothing was going to stop her from revamping Ouijawood Park. She was going to have to propose a name change, but that would come later.
Flyers and a rally? Yes that would potentially work a lot better that her community forum which had been a minor failure. But she took the information she learned from it, and the connection she made with Rick, to move forward. Maybe they couldn't do anything right away, but it was important to make connections with people in town.
"I think her name is Pinkie Pie," Leslie said questioningly. "Rumor is she used to be a pony..." Leslie trailed off when she realized how ridiculous that sounded, but knowing this place she knew that anything was possible. "But uh, yeah, she has a bakery. Really good cakes. Maybe she can make rallying cupcakes? I mean I could make rallying cupcakes. Maybe she'll let me use her kitchen? She could be my assistant."
Leslie was used to doing everything herself, and she wasn't sure she'd forgive herself for outsourcing cupcakes. She made wonderful cupcakes, and other goodies. But be a professional baker she could not do. She loved government too much to just give it up. She looked over at Ben and reached over to cup his cheek gently. "I'm really glad you're here, and at the same time really sad that you're here. I'm sorry."
