Since the previous month's adventure in the Sleepy Hollow Hotel, which had been more misadventure than adventure, Beth realized that she needed to take a more proactive stance on survival here. It wasn't enough to be alert or persistence. She needed better weapons. Her trusty pair of kitchen scissors just weren't going to cut it against ghosts and whatever else lurked here (not, she knew, that much could be used as a weapon against ghosts). Plus, she'd need a better knife if she was going to help Rick walk the perimeters. All of the above brought her to the blacksmith's. She had heard from a few others that this was where she'd find what she needed. It wasn't a very remarkable blacksmith's shop, situated as it was inside the housing complex and not far from the Hiss Station. She'd never been back here before, dividing most of her time as it was between the music shop -- and elsewhere. She thought it looked rather abandoned; though, perhaps that was just the look of everything in Marrowood. It wasn't as though she had the right to judge. Everything in her world looked abandoned (and generally, that meant those were safe places). "Hello?" she said, knocking and poking her head in through the door. She wasn't really sure what to expect. She wasn't even sure what a blacksmith did. Weren't they the strange fellows in pirate movies, always covered in soot? She was pretty sure that was the last place she'd seen a blacksmith. Then again, the last time she had seen a ghost, she had been six, and trick-or-treating. |
