Anna and Ariel, Gingers United
And again, this stupid town reinforced the fact that no matter where they went, it obviously would never be anything nice. Maybe they angered something - taking some of the belongings? The linens? Did she accidentally take some cursed item? Because she'd give it back, if it meant that the banshee wail would actually stop and make her ears cease the borderline painful ringing.
"I don't think anything's trapped," she said through grit teeth, her hand moving over Anna's on her arm for a reassuring squeeze. Whatever was going on, they were here together, and they wouldn't be separated. Part of her feared something from the darkness that filled corners and crevices would come out, wrap around one of them and yank them elsewhere - wherever - and Ariel wasn't about to let her go. "Buddy system. We hold onto each other, and we won't get split up. Okay?"
That inhuman sound calmed, a faint echo in the corridors, though with the threat of starting up soon. That's when they could hear that weird scraping sound; like fingernails scratching walls and doors in desperation for freedom. She didn't know what that was, and she honestly couldn't say she especially cared at the moment, but she started pulling Anna in the direction of where they came from. They'd find the way out eventually, right?
