Last order of business - Town morale
Things had been going well for the meeting. People were discussing ideas, and as much as she wanted to interrupt them they seemed to forget that she was even there entirely. People had a tendency to overlook her even though she was the one that had done all the planning, and brought them together to even discuss the issues. Heck, they wouldn't even be talking if it wasn't for her!
She had half a mind to tell everyone what was going to be done, and they'd have to live with it, but this wasn't her town and these people didn't know her. They had no reason to trust her, and she'd have to start from scratch. Like when she first started in the Parks department.
Leslie smiled at Rick. He at least didn't try to bring her down like the kids in the back, the ones that sneered in her direction and laughed like her ideas were a big joke. She nodded as he spoke, appreciating that he was taking the time to explain how things worked in the town.
"Well, I know back home that things didn't get done without the proper paperwork. Approval from the City Manager, and the City Council, and whatever. Maybe this place works the same? Maybe we have to go through the proper channels to make some changes?" Her head was tilted to the side in a questioning manner. She did not know how things worked in the town, and she definitely did not want to step of anyone's toes or break any rules. Definitely not.
"I mean, I certainly don't want to get anyone cursed. I mean, are curses real? Well, of course they are, you saw it happen. I haven't seen it happen, but being here almost seems like a curse, doesn't it? It does... It really really does." She let out a sigh, but smiled in spite of it.
"I just... I'm not a fighter. I'm not a genius engineer or a physicist or whatever those scientists are. Hell, I can't even build my own chair," she said with sadness as she thought of her friend Ron Swanson. She wondered what he was doing at that moment.
"I just want to help the town, and I want to help the people in the town. Alive and dead." Boy, that sounded so weird coming out of her mouth. "I'm not content with sitting on my ass all day waiting for something to happen, you know?"
