Functioning alcoholic - she was pretty sure that was Ron Swanson. The man enjoyed his Lagavulin just a little too much, but he never once seemed out of control. That she had seen, at least. She imagined she would like to see Ron just on this side of shit-faced. The mental image made her smile a bit.
But she returned her focus to Killian, watching eagerly as he opened his gift to reveal what she had made for him. The whistle made her beam, and when he said he'd hang it up, well Leslie was just ecstatic. It always made her feel so good when people enjoyed the presents she gave them. The look on their faces was enough of a gift for her. Leslie prided herself in giving the MOST thoughtful gifts ever. No one else compared, really, which was why it was so hard to get her a gift sometimes. What most people didn't realize, however, was that Leslie was always grateful and appreciative of the things people gave to her.
"I'm glad you like it. I worked on it all night."
And then he kissed her cheek, and Leslie's face flushed uncontrollably. Her eyes widened, and she could feel her heart racing in her chest. Hook just kissed her... what did it mean! Did it mean they were going to have to start dating? But didn't that Jefferson guy say he was crushing on a mermaid? Leslie couldn't go out with a guy that was dating someone else! But was he dating anyone? He seemed so carefree that he couldn't possibly...
"Focus Leslie... focus..." she told herself as she took a deep breath. Hook started to talk shop with her, and that was all it took for her to bring her mind back down to earth.
"You betcha," she said to him with a grin. "And there's no stopping Leslie Knope when she sets her mind to something. I mean, there's no stopping me. I don't know why I just referred to myself in the third person. But yes... this town isn't going to know what hit it."
