Isaac & Tommy
The noise made Isaac flinch a little, hunching in on himself as he limped along the tree line, holding in the whimpers that wanted to escape from the agonising pain now settling in his chest and leg. It was strange how not terrified he was. The dread had already settled deep into his guts, realisation that fighting was potentially an entirely lost cause and he'd need to accept that really.
There was a growl from his left and Isaac just dropped himself in time to avoid having his head taken off, whatever was stalking them just taking out five trees and dozens move behind him in a leap. And holy shit what the hell was that thing? It was most definitely not anything Isaac could win against, and he doubted Tommy, even with his super speed, could really do anything.
So what was the point? Was he going to get away from this? Probably not. He was bleeding a helpful little trail along behind him, and his slow healing ribs meant he was massively limited for movement. It wasn't like Tommy could help either, not really. This thing was worse than any alpha or kanima or hunter. It was just going to kill them both if Tommy stayed.
"No," he was still feeling a little winded, sore and slowed and sluggish, Isaac levered himself to his feet and moved away from the trees, hobbling back onto the dirt path, "start more fires, try to find the others." Otherwise they were just both going to die. Isaac could already hear the thing in the forest moving again, circling what it clearly decided was prey, and big predators like this didn't just give up weak prey for no reason.
