"You're an intuitive fellow. I'm sure you could sense that you didn't." What Loki could respect about this human was his resilience. Even in the base of his robotic programming, there were flaws. Be it that he was away from HYDRA so long or not, clearly, the human within--the real Bucky, was always trying to come out.
He was being careful now. The insecurity from within his mind, the unease that Loki sensed, wasn't because Bucky was afraid. He didn't know what to do. He didn't want to return to whatever it was that HYDRA had done before, the man inside was fighting.
So, they were doing something right. The issue was that Bucky didn't trust anything because he didn't want some punishment or whatever he'd been avoiding by evaluating and re-evaluating his questions before asking. Perhaps not accepting because it would shatter his reality, and then what?
Loki's teeth beamed when his lips peeled back farther as Bucky finally went for the drink. "You don't have to tiptoe around your speculations, BuckyBoo. I'm no enforcer of any kind nor am I a tattle tail--well, pending on the circumstance. What I am though, is highly perceptive of truth and all that entails to bend and unbend it." He sat back further against his stool, letting his folded hands fall into his lap, emerald eyes glinting. "So you and I both know you're aware of the answer to that question. The real question is, why aren't you willing to accept it?"
