So the key was collecting information. A lot of it. As much as they possibly could. Stiles was cool with that. The more he knew, the safer he felt. Well, sort of; sometimes the information he learned made him feel anything but. The truth was, though, if Stiles knew what a threat was, he felt way more confident about his ability to survive it.
You know. Most of the time.
"Okay," Stiles said. He nodded. "Okay, so, notes are good. All the notes." He'd start typing in his notes soon enough, keep the server up to date for the purpose of research and education and maybe going the hell home sometime soon.
He shrugged off the encryption. "I don't think we'll need to, really, but encryption is a good thing to know how to do. You know, just in case." Because worst case scenario was practically the norm here, wasn't it? Best to be prepared, even if he didn't think it was a thing they'd face. "So, you're a really techie type, then. With encryption and stuff, I mean."
