Diana's skepticism held fast at Jefferson's words, despite her understanding that he probably just wanted to end this as soon as he could, but this still wasn't the time to really argue or debate the point. A quick statement to clarify her intent, perhaps, but nothing more than that. And if he interpreted it as her wanting to get the last word in, well. That, ultimately, wasn't her responsibility.
"I assure you, Jefferson, my concern regarding the weaponry are rooted in my concern for his current state." What she'd seen and felt, just the few glimpses into the man's mind, worried her the longer she stood there in front of the two of them. "I mean nothing else but that."
Likewise, she wouldn't apologize for responding for a direct threat. But Diana intended to follow-up on this later, if possible, perhaps a few days later on, to see if more was being done for him. She didn't know his story, or his background, but she knew with certainty that something was seriously wrong.
She gestured for the two men to move ahead of her into the grocery store. "Good evening."
