Diana was in the middle of trying to process what, exactly, the man had told her when Jefferson addressed her and she realized the exact resemblance between the two. Her familiarity with alternate worlds led her to assume that the man who'd shot her was another version of Jefferson specifically, not another person altogether who happened to share the same face and body. It was startling, yes, but she had to focus here.
Jefferson's words sounded placating enough, but she wasn't the sort of person to release a known threat without a complete investigation. There had been words she didn't recognize, statements that didn't make sense without additional context, and Diana intended to gain said context now.
"Did you mean it?" she asked then, looking pointedly at the man. "Is Jefferson telling the truth? And what did you mean, 'you can't fail again'? When have you failed prior? As an officer, I will let you go once I can determine that you are not a threat to anyone else here."
