"It wouldn't hurt to poll the others, see if anyone shares the ability." She appreciated Rick's caution, and after her first stint on a team with the Justice League Diana was beginning to understand that she couldn't do everything alone. It still felt a struggle sometimes, reaching out to others who were not like her, but it was a necessity. And sometimes that necessity meant she could meet people whose character she respected greatly, like Rick.
His statement about needing to keep it together, because there were no other ways to continue, rang true for her. As difficult as Marrowood seemed to be making it, Diana needed to have her head on straight. She'd be of no use to the others if she didn't. And from what she'd learned of his home world, Rick had experienced that firsthand.
"You're right. Perhaps focusing on the bigger picture, the question of whether we'll find a way out of this place, isn't the right tactic. Doing so has proven to be nothing but maddening." Diana returned his smile with one of her own, faking it only just a tiny bit. "There are still small victories that are claimed every day. To my understanding, no deaths have yet been reported within the past week. Persons with no fighting background continue to learn the basics of survival. Small alliances are being made." A different perspective could also make a world of difference.
