"I always think it's better to offer than to not. There's no need to go about life wishing you'd said or done something." Diana had never been satisfied with inactivity. Things either happened or they didn't. There was no maybe about it for her. "Especially when it means safety or security."
She fell silent briefly, though, at his next question, not sure how to explain everything clearly, without ending up in a ramble about her life and all that she'd experienced at home. Everyone came from different places, some with few or no overlaps or similarities.
"Where I grew up," she said finally. "There were no men. It was an island, near what they refer to as the 'Middle East.'" Such a strange description; east of what, exactly? "Populated by a nation of women warriors. The gods walked among us, though the Amazons as a whole were not gods themselves. I left home to be an ambassador for my people. I was the first to live elsewhere, among regular people as you put it. It's still an adjustment." Diana gave a wry smile. "Before, I had not realized not all persons solve disagreements with grappling."
