in the kitchen, cooking; open reception
Just because was just as good a reason as any. Even if it really wasn't a reason at all, she just wanted him there. Which was endearing much as was her 'leeching'.
"There are worse things to have to adapt to," he said making a face, shrugging only barely enough so that it wouldn't disrupt where her chin was perched on his shoulder, stirring the Alfredo as it heated. He supposed the Charmings weren't necessarily lacking in any sort of virtues at all. If they were, what one didn't have, one of the other two would supply. They were just a fitting little bunch. "Family insanity is actually common. From what I've seen and heard, anyways."
Though it seemed for them there would always be a bit of insanity when they were the patriarchs of an entire realm. It came with titles and positions of significance, which was why Jefferson had tried to stay away from being anyone horribly significant. Useful, needed, but not significant.
He wasn't doing a fine job of that by keeping so close to Emma, but, things changed and so did he. Isolating hadn't done any wonders for being left alone or keeping Grace safe. May as well try something else.
"Do you think they're more suited for the Enchanted Forest, or for the Land Without Magic?" It was just a curious question, as Jefferson considered it time and time again, in the past and in the present, seeing as how for the longest time going back home was his biggest goal in getting Grace back. He wondered what everyone else thought, how they'd adapted.
