in the kitchen, cooking; open reception
"Earlier just because." And yeah, she would say he could've gotten started cooking earlier, but if he'd been there earlier they could have really had some alone time, and even if it was just talking nonsense and this pleasant tactile closeness, Emma wasn't about to pass up either if she got the chance again.
Because it was nice. New, but very nice. She liked not having to worry about what someone thought, or if they'd judge her on something, or if she'd do something wrong. Jefferson was so brazenly open about everything, almost blunt at times, especially when he had an opinion, that Emma wasn't worried.
"There was lettuce and egg and some carrots and chicken, okay." And yeah, she thought maybe that was all she had, because Ruby'd been busy with this and hadn't brought round her usual churro from Pinkie's stand for her snack. But that just left room for dinner anyway.
Her fingers squeezed his as his hand closed over hers, bringing a light smile to her face. She'd never really been the hand-holding, soul-gazing, lovey-dovey type. She liked human contact though, starved of affection and touch for long enough that when she could soak it up and steal it, she did her utmost to do so. And Jefferson didn't seem at all bothered with her leeching into his space anyway.
"I think with my family I need to learn the 'don't lose your mind in all this insanity' rather than any virtues." Snow had most of those down, Charming got the rest and Emma could just kick butt and smile.
